The Energy is an independent provider of professional learning informed by experts working in the sector. We are unaffiliated with any energy company, not-for-profit, or government agency. We are based in Sydney, with staff around Australia. We engage with energy professionals on a daily basis ensuring our course content is grounded in real-world issues and experience. We cut through complexity and deliver clear, actionable insights to help energy professionals - and their organisations - lead with confidence.

The Energy Learning offers introductory courses for people new to the sector and will shortly offer more advanced courses for those interested in deepening their knowledge of Australia’s energy systems and markets. Participating in these courses can fulfil continuing professional development requirements.

In sectors like the energy sector, continuing professional development (CPD) ensures professionals remain equipped with knowledge of best practices, regulatory changes, and technological advancements. It also enables career advancement and professional growth.

Anyone is eligible to study with us, whether in the energy sector or outside of it.

Courses may have quizzes to assess learning and knowledge retention. You will need to satisfy the course pass mark to receive a certificate of completion. You will be given multiple opportunities to achieve the pass mark.

A learning pathway is a curated and structured sequence of modules. Upon completion you will have achieved learning objectives which are designed to provide competencies and skills in a particular topic. 

To enrol in a course, please scroll down to the bottom of our home page and click ‘enrol’ on the course or learning pathway. 

You will receive login details after you sign up. Sign up involves creating an account with a username and password, as well as confirming these details via an authentication email.

Once you have enrolled in a course or learning pathway, you can access the content on The Energy Learning for a period of 12 months unless otherwise stated.

Our courses are developed and presented by leading experts in each field.  

Courses are broken into bite-sized interactive modules. You can pause and resume courses at any time and our learning platform will remember your progress.

All you require is a device (preferably a computer) and good internet connection. All of the main internet browsers are compatible (e.g. Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge).

No additional software is required to learn with us.

The Energy Learning self-accredits. Once you complete a course you will receive a certificate of completion.

If you are a member of a professional body you can, in most cases, claim continuing professional development (CPD) points through your certificate of completion.
